Shapes and Sizes – Average American League West Pitchers
The American League West has had more than its outstanding pitchers in its history. The top two strikeout pitchers of all-time, Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson spent most of their careers with teams in the American League West.
Today we are going to look at the average pitcher in this division. When I say average I am referring to their weight and height. We will even take a look at each staff’s most average pitcher, size-wise, at or near the front foot leg plant to see differences and similarities.
The next article will look at some of the outliers in this division.

Houston Astros

Bryan Woo at 6’2″ and 205 lbs best represents the Mariner’s Average pitcher size-wise.
Texas Rangers
At 6’3″ and 205 lbs, Chris Stratton is your most average pitcher on the staff.
Here again, for your viewing pleasure, are your average pitchers all at a similar point in the delivery. All of these guys are in and around the same height and weight yet there are some very distinct styles.
